Marco Silva taunted by Watford fans holding up rubber snakes

Watford fans taunted their former manager Marco Silva at Goodison Park by brandishing rubber snakes.

The message was clear as Hornets fans who remain unhappy with what many of them considered disloyalty from the Portuguese.

Everton made an approach for Silva last year when Watford were excelling in the Premier League.

It seemed the 41-year-old had his head turned and the London club's form suffered as a result.

Eventually Watford parted company with Silva and he was freed up to take the reins at Goodison Park.

Groups of fans in the away end held up two inflatable snakes, one yellow and green, the other green and black.

The amusing dig at the pantomime villain of the evening was part of a spicy encounter between two teams who have plenty of ill feeling.

Those Watford fans were agonisingly close to coming away with the spoils and getting one over on Silva after a Seamus Coleman own goal and Abdoulaye Doucoure put the visitors in front.

But a Lucas Digne free-kick right at the death salvaged a point for the Toffees.
