Marcos Alonso has escaped retrospective action after the FA decided not to charge the Chelsea defender for catching Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the face.
Alonso was caught on camera hitting Maitland-Niles inside the area during his side's 2-0 Premier League loss at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Arsenal's players furiously complained to referee Anthony Taylor, who appeared to miss the incident as he did not award a foul or show Alonso a card.
Yet the FA have decided not to follow up and retrospectively punish the Chelsea player, whose form has been criticised recently.
Fans were outraged and called for the defender to be banned in the aftermath of the incident.
Former Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele was banned for six games for gouging at the eye of Diego Costa, who was playing for Chelsea at the time.
The let off for Alonso from the FA comes after a bad weekend for the Blues who failed to overtake rivals Tottenham for third place.
However, Maurizio Sarri's side have a chance to book their place in the Carabao Cup final at the expense of Spurs who they face in the second leg of their semi-final on Thursday and Alonso is set to start.
Mauricio Pochettino will be without Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko for the game with all three out injured.
The Argentine boss will also be unable to select Son Heung-min for the cup clash as the South Korean is currently away on international duty at the Asian Cup.
