Marcus Rashford has insisted it is 'nonsense' to suggest Manchester United gave up during the second half of their 7-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Erik ten Hag's side were thrashed by their arch-rivals at Anfield on Sunday after conceding six second half goals.
This led to significant criticism from fans and pundits alike that United completely folded in the second half. something the England forward hit back at.
He said: 'We didn't give up, that's nonsense. Organisation was bad, yeah, that's why we conceded the goals.
'I believe everybody was trying to get back into the game that much we came away from the team's principles in and out of possession.
'Our attack wasn't connected with midfield and the same with the midfield and defence.
'We tried to get a grip then it was 2-0, 3-0. We were talking but not in agreement of what to do.
'The only thing we can do is learn from it. I'm happy we have another game so quickly.'
The Reds tore Erik ten Hag's side apart in one of the Premier League's most remarkable results of all-time after Cody Gakpo had put them one-up at half-time.
Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez all scored twice before Roberto Firmino added a seventh late-on, as United's organisational structure seemed to disappear.
Gary Neville - a huge advocate of Ten Hag's management - was one of several former United players to tear into the team.
He said post-match: ''He’s dealt with set backs Erik ten Hag, this is a big one. They’ve gone to pieces in this second half.
'They've lost their shape, they’ve lost their discipline, they’ve lost their heads. I never had them down as title winners, I think it’s a miracle Ten hag has got them where he has. This is out of character for this team.
'This is really bad today, its a sore one but, I think it is a bad one,' he added.
