Olympique de Marseille look set to win the race to sign England international Angel Gomes (24), according to a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins.
Gomes is a free agent this summer with the midfielder’s contract at Lille OSC expiring. He has already confirmed that he will leave LOSC upon the expiry of his current deal, along with another key player for Les Dogues, Jonathan David.
The former Manchester United player had attracted plenty of interest from the Premier League. As per RMC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were keen to sign Gomes, however, his preference is to sign for Marseille, with whom he already has an agreement in principle over a three-year deal.
The midfielder has been “seduced” by the style of football that Roberto De Zerbi has brought to the Vélodrome, whilst the club’s qualification for next season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League have also helped convince the player of the move.
