Manchester United flop Anthony Martial has reportedly been offered to Inter Milan as the French striker prepares to leave Old Trafford this summer.

The 28-year-old, who hasn't played since the start of December because of injury, sees his United contract expire at the end of June.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Serie A leaders Inter have been offered the chance to sign Martial for nothing.

The report says Inter will evaluate the merits of signing him but isn't their No 1 striker target.

The major drawback is Martial's checkered injury record, with constant setbacks preventing him achieving his full potential at United.

The Frenchman has scored just twice this season, at Everton in the Premier League and against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, with his game time restricted by illness and injury.

It's not the first time Martial has been linked with Inter but the Italian club's top target is Albert Gudmundsson of Genoa and Iceland.

Gudmundsson, 26, has netted 13 times this season but is contracted to Genoa until 2027 and so would cost Inter a considerable sum.

United signed Martial, then one of the most promising young players in world football, from Monaco in 2015 for a fee which could have reached £58million with add-ons.

He scored 17 times during his debut campaign but has proved frustratingly inconsistent since with a diminishing goal return and increasing injury troubles.

His best return in United colours came when he netted 23 times in 2019-20 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but has since struggled to replicate that form.

Martial has been linked to clubs in Turkey and France as he looks tor reboot his career next season.
