Mason STAYING at Spurs after talk over becoming Anderlecht manager fall through

  /  autty

Ryan Mason is staying at Tottenham following talks with Anderlecht over their vacant head coach's role.

Mail Sport reported on Tuesday that the Spurs coach was in talks with the Belgian club over replacing Brian Riemer, who was sacked by Anderlecht last month.

But the 33-year-old, who is part of Ange Postecoglou's coaching team, will remain in north London following discussions.

All parties have mutually decided to walk away from talks. Mason has been keen to take his first head coach's job and was intrigued by the Anderlecht vacancy.

But it is understood there is feeling from all parties that his appointment, at this moment in time, would not be the right step.

The club, knowing of Mason's eventually desire to become a manager in his own right, were happy for their former player to engage in talks with Anderlecht.

But he will now remain with Postecoglou's set-up.
