A MASS brawl between Manchester City and Tottenham supporters was sparked by the controversial VAR decision to rule out Gabriel Jesus' winner, according to one eyewitness.
Footage has emerged of police trying to break up a huge fight between the two sets of supporters outside the Etihad after Saturday evening's 2-2 draw.
And according to one eye witness, the trouble was down to the disallowed, injury-time winner.
Spurs fan Chris Cowlin, who went to the game with his 13-year-old son, told the Manchester Evening News: "We left out of the away end as normal, and because of the whole VAR thing, a lot of City fans charged at our fans, including older people and young kids.
"People were getting punched, there was spitting, it's not acceptable.
"I couldn't believe it.
"I was there at the Champions League game last season and City fans were great, coming up to us and saying 'good luck against Ajax.'
"This time, there was a little bit of banter from Spurs fans, singing about VAR, then the City fans were charging."
Some supported his claims that is was started by angry City fans but others hit back, saying Spurs supporters were equally as responsible.
Martin Tucker tweeted: "I was there with my son and it was almost an ambush coming out of the ground. Not enough police and when they did react they pushed Spurs fans back into a narrow space while allowing City fans to intimidate. Poor policing."
Cheryl Hughes tweeted to Manchester City's official account: "Totally disgusted that you decided to let the spurs fans out at the same time as the city fans. Fights were breaking out everywhere.
"Kids were in the crowd scared and crying Police just stud there (sic). Had to grab my son out of the way."
However, one fired back: "Absolute lie Chris Cowlin, Spurs fans were breaking the lines trying to get at fans on the opposite side of the road.
"I had to shield my missus from a bottle and our fans then reacted."
Another called Gaz Warrington: "Funny cos I saw it as six of one and half a dozen of another. Neither sets of supporters came out of it very well, however from what I saw very much equally to blame.
"Spurs fans goading City fans and City fans reacting. All this with a line of police."
According to the Manchester Evening News, Greater Manchester Police said they responded to an incident outside the ground after the game and said they made two arrests.
