The Real Madrid striker made more scoring history in the Champions League after scoring against Manchester City.

Manchester City and Real Madrid treated fans to another Champions League classic in the first leg of their round of 16 showdown at the Etihad Stadium, where Carlo Ancelotti’s men snatched a dramatic victory thanks to a last-gasp goal from Jude Bellingham.

Mbappé up to ninth

Kylian Mbappé made his mark at the perfect moment—just when Real Madrid needed him most. With an acrobatic finish in the 60th minute, he drew his side level, shifting the momentum back in favor of the Spanish giants after Erling Haaland had put the Sky Blues ahead.

This goal was particularly special for Mbappé, as it was his 52nd in the Champions League, moving him ahead of Thierry Henry, with whom he had been tied. The milestone places him ninth on the tournament’s all-time scoring list.

Benzema only Frenchman to catch

In addition, Mbappé is now the second-highest French goalscorer in Champions League history, trailing only another Real Madrid legend, Karim Benzema, who netted 90 times in the competition and remains the tournament’s fourth all-time top scorer.

Mbappé scores again against City

Manchester City continues to be one of Mbappé’s favored opponents, as the French forward once again found the net against Pep Guardiola’s side.

This was his first goal against City since the 2021-22 season, and with his latest strike for Madrid, he now has four goals in six appearances against the Premier League champions.
