Manchester United star McTominay has been revealed as one of the cover stars for the latest version of the PES series.
The Scotland international will be on the box when the game releases on September 10, along with Barcelona's Messi, Bayern Munich's Serge Gnabry and Juventus' Miralem Pjanic.
And McTominay has admitted that he's still comprehending the fact that he'll be on the cover alongside such big name players.
“I don't even know. I've not even thought about it yet,” he told Football Focus.
“Whenever I see myself in Asda on the side, I'll be a bit like [exhales].
“I know! But it's one of them ones isn't it? It's a good experience and it's amazing to be on the cover of such an iconic game as well.
“So it's one of them things that you have to relish as well and embrace it.”
When asked about Messi directly, the United star added: “The best ever. The best ever.”
McTominay was also asked about United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer has relied on the Scotland international in recent months and believes he can be a key player for his side.
And McTominay has hailed the Norwegian, insisting he has faith in young players.
"Experience is important, but young players are hungry," McTominay said.
"Because somebody's played more doesn't mean they'll get ahead of you.
"There's no first name on the team-sheet and there's no given they'll play in every match - that's the sign of a healthy dressing room.
"Age is just a number. When you see [Paris St-Germain's] Kylian Mbappe and [United team-mate] Marcus Rashford play at such a young age, doing amazing things it's a credit to them. They just play."
