Gabriel Mercado's stay with Sevilla has come to an end as the Argentine has joined Qatar-based side Al Rayyan.
Now 32, Mercado's contract had expired and he took the decision not to renew in Andalusia in order to find a new challenge as well as receive a more lucrative salary.
The defender arrived in Seville from River Plate in 2016 and played an important role at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan, appearing 117 times and scoring six goals.
"Today I have to say goodbye to this great club in search of a new path for my career," Mercado posted on social media.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity that every person here has given me.
"I leave after wonderful years with a clear conscience knowing that I always offered my best.
"I felt at home.
"Seville will always be engraved in my heart through the eyes of my little Sevillian daughter."
