The World Cup winner has launched a global competitive gaming team and already US, Turkish and Brazilian players on his books

After being the ambassador for the inaugural FIFA eWorld Cup earlier this year, Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil announced that he was forming his own competitive gaming FIFA team, Team Ozil M10.

The German is the second Premier League footballer to do so, following in the footsteps of Leicester City’s Christian Fuch’s and his team: No Fuchs Given.

Team Ozil M10 was founded by eSportsReputation, a German esports agency and they didn’t take long to start acquiring talent. Yesterday, the team revealed another player in their growing roster.

According to reports from German media outlet Sport Bild, Ozil is looking to initially start off with five players, all of whom will come from different continents. The aim is to have a player from Europe, Asia, Africa, North America and South America.

That report appears to be accurate so far as Ozil announced European Fatih ‘Ustun’ Ustun as his first signing. The Turkish player had a strong year, winning the FIFA eClub World Cup with his former team, Brondby.

That signing was a signal of intent from the Gunners midfielder, he wasn’t going to play it safe by forming an academy like Ruud Gullit, he wanted winners.

Team Ozil M10 then went one step better with the signing of their South American representative, Pedro 'PResende97' Resende of Brazil.

PResende97 finished the season in style, placing in the Xbox top eight of the eWorld Cup after being eliminated at the hands of eventual champion, Mossad ‘MSDossary’ Aldossary.

Now Team Ozil M10 have revealed their latest signing, 16-year-old Josh ‘Squirrel’ Banh from the United States who qualified for the FUT Champions Cup in Manchester. He also qualified for the FIFA Interactive World Cup the year prior but wasn’t old enough to participate.

M10’s agency eSportsReputation released a statement claiming this signing show’s Ozil’s long-term commitment to esports saying: “He [Ozil] is not just interested in signing athletes who are already big stars but also young talents with the prospect of a golden future.”

This leaves Africa and Asia and the only remaining continents Ozil wants to tick off his list and the Asia representative could very well be the aforementioned eWorld Cup champion, MSDossary.

The Saudi Arabian has been heavily linked with Team Ozil M10 after he gave the champion box seats to Arsenal’s match against Manchester City earlier in the season before the pair met later in the evening.

However, for now, MSDossary is still with French esports organisation Rogue who have funding from world famous DJ, Steve Aoki - they will be desperate to keep hold of their star player.
