Middlesbrough are set to make history in their FA Cup third-round tie against Peterborough on Saturday – by fielding both their youngest ever player and their oldest ever player at the same time.
Sixteen-year-old defender Nathan Wood is set to play in the match at the Riverside, while 40-year-old goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos will also feature.
Boro boss Tony Pulis urged supporters to turn out and see the 'amazing situation' for themselves because 'it will never happen again'.
'That must be unique,' said Pulis ahead of the game. 'You might have one or the other but to have both on the same pitch... I've never heard of that happening before.
'It's an amazing situation, supporters should come in and see it because it will be unique and will never happen again.
'To get the youngest and oldest playing in one game. I have never had that before, not with that age difference.
'Dimi could be his grandfather. It's so unique but great for the occasion.'
Wood set the record as Boro's youngest player with a substitute appearance in the League Cup against Notts County – just a week before he received his GCSE results.
Wood is the son of former Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough full back Dean Gordon and was just 16 years and 75 days when he made his debut.
Konstantopoulos, the club's back-up keeper, will be 40 years and 35 days when he plays against Posh, beating Bryan Robson's previous record of 39 years and 355 days, set in 1997.
That all equates to a stunning 24-year age gap between the two record breakers.
