Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes that club record signing Declan Rice can be 'like a lighthouse' for the Gunners.

After protracted negotiations, Arsenal finally completed the signing of Rice from West Ham for £100million, potentially rising by £5million in add-ons.
Arteta feels that Rice is capable of having a transformative effect at Arsenal in terms of bolstering the quality of the whole team.
As reported by The Mirror, Arteta said: 'First of all he is a person and what he is going to bring to the team. I see him like a lighthouse, that he is willing to put light in others and improve others and make the team better and that is a huge quality.
'For me to be a midfielder you have to have that and he's got it 100% and the way he talks and presents himself and the ambition he has and the passion towards the game and that is exactly what we needed.'

Despite only being 24 years old, Rice already possesses much Premier League and international experience, while his leadership qualities are also a key asset.
Arteta said: 'It's his leadership, his aura, the experience he already has in the league he is going to bring and the team to a different dimension I think. He has the physical qualities we were missing for a while as well. That is why we had to do what we had to do to get him because he was really important for us to get him.
'I think every transfer window we are trying to improve and every season we are trying to develop our players to a level and when we don't reach with that level we have to recruit and I think what we have done this summer improves the squad significantly.'
In addition to Rice, Arsenal have also brought in Kai Havertz from Chelsea and defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax.
Rice helped West Ham to win the Europa Conference League in his final game for the club as they overcame Fiorentina.

He will now be aiming to help an Arsenal side that finished in second place in the Premier League last season go one step further by winning the title.
Commenting further on Rice's arrival, Arteta told Sky Sports: 'You all know his leadership, personality, and the experience he already has at 24. He's already close with some of the boys, he knew a few of the boys from the England camp as well.'
'Declan is very much known within the league and has done tremendously well both for West Ham and England.
'He's a player that is going to bring a lot of qualities, a lot of leadership, a lot of experience in the league, very specific in the position with the qualities that he has. We are delighted to have him.'
