Around £60,000 was raised for the James Milner Foundation at a charity event in Liverpool's Hilton hotel on Thursday afternoon.
The Liverpool midfielder's foundation is now into its eighth year and is expected to the reach the £1million mark for funds raised when Milner hosts a charity ball on Sunday evening that will be attended by manager Jurgen Klopp and several of his Anfield team-mates.
Milner's organisation mainly aims to help four charities in Help for Heroes, Bloodwise, NSPCC and motor neurone group MNDA and around £60k was spent at a sports auction during a glitzy affair at the stylish city centre hotel.
The lunch, which was laid on by Formby-based Opus Events, kicked off with Milner on stage answering questions from host Jerry Earl as the Reds star discussed some of the milestone moments in a career that has spanned over 17 years.
The 33-year-old talked through his debut at Leeds as a 16-year-old and some of his experiences across a four-year stay at Anfield that included June's Champions League final triumph.
Milner also gave a poignant get-well message to former Leeds team-mate and Reds defender Dominic Matteo as he continues to recover from a surgery on a brain tumour earlier this month.
