Neville criticises TAA for 'giving away multiple chances' in important games

Gary Neville believes Trent Alexander-Arnold could benefit from costing his side a big game as it doesn't seem as though he is affected by the mistakes that he has been making in recent games.

Alexander-Arnold has started all 11 of Liverpool's Premier League games this season and has impressed going forward.

However, he has been making some errors at the back and Neville thinks it is an issue that must be addressed.

'I said that he (Alexander-Arnold) could have cost them the game against Tottenham,' Neville said ahead of Liverpool's huge clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

'When Trent gives multiple chances away in big matches, he jogs back to his attacking position and it looks like it doesn’t affect him.

'It could benefit him to cost his team a big game. He needs that hurt in his face when he gives chances away. I don’t think he’s always tight enough to his centre back.'

Looking ahead to Sunday's game, Neville said City will be thinking they must win.

'I think Anfield is the ultimate test,' he said. 'Last season, level on points, Guardiola had a poor record against Liverpool. Everyone fancies Liverpool. Great teams have to remind people why they’re great teams. They will come here with the mentality that they have to win. I think Guardiola will have a different mentality today.'
