Newcastle are reportedly planning a move to snap up Chelsea youngster Reece James on loan in the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old has made five appearances for the Blues this season as manager Frank Lampard has looked to youth.
And now Steve Bruce is keen to bring James to St James' Park for the second half of the campaign with the incentive of being able to offer frequent game time, according to The Sun.
Newcastle will reportedly contact Chelsea about the possibility of securing a loan deal for James.
The full back has played just 28 minutes in the Premier League this season with captain Cesar Azpilicueta ahead of him in the right-back spot.
Lampard has given the club's youngsters a chance this season with the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori blossoming under his tutelage.
James scored on his Blues debut as they beat Grimsby 7-1 in the Carabao Cup last month.
The England Under-20 international impressed while on loan at Wigan in the Championship last season.
James came off the bench in Chelsea's 4-2 win over Burnley on Saturday evening, which saw Lampard's side move to within five points of leaders Liverpool.
