Newcastle are reportedly set to reward Nick Pope with a new contract that could be worth up to £100,000-a-week before bonuses, thanks to his impressive form this season.

The 30-year-old has been an instrumental part of the Magpies success this season, keeping 16 clean sheets in the 26 games he's started this season across all competitions.

The shot-stopper's fine form in net also see's him top the Premier League Golden Glove tally, with 12 clean sheets in the year so far this season, pipping Arsenal 'keeper Aaron Ramsdale, who sits second on 11 clean sheets.

And, according to the Sun, Newcastle are looking to extend his current deal and up his wages to bring his contract in line with many other top keepers around the league.

The newspaper reports that Pope's base salary is currently around £60,000-per-week, and with appearance money, clean sheet bonuses, and win bonuses that bring his weekly wage up to £100,000.

The Geordies are now hoping to raise his basic salary to £100,000 before any add-ons have been included.

The shot-stopper signed for Newcastle from Burnley last summer for a fee of £12m, signing a four-year deal on his arrival.

He joined a contingent of goalkeepers at the club that includes Martin Dubravka, Loris Karius and Mark Gillespie quickly rose to become Eddie Howe's first choice, keeping two clean sheets in his first two matches at the club.

In fact, he has only conceded 17 goals in the Premier League this season, and almost became the first English keeper to keep seven straight clean sheets, with Pope keeping his net empty for a whopping nine hours and thirty minutes of Premier League action this season.

The only blemish on his record is the red card he received against Liverpool two weeks ago, that saw him receive a two-game suspension that prevented him from playing in Newcastle's Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester United last week.

Pope made his return to Premier League action today in Newcastle's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, and despite the loss, made some excellent saves keeping a tricky strike from Phil Foden out of the net.

Pope will now be hoping to continue his good form in a bid to stake a claim for the England No 1 jersey, as Gareth Southgate's side prepare to take on Italy and Ukraine later this March in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
