Tottenham transfer news: A busy summer awaits Daniel Levy with a new manager to appoint and one of Spurs' targets confirmed as being up for sale

Never has a transfer decision been more clear than the one that faces Tottenham Hotspur Football Club this summer. Arguably, in a lot of departments, there are positions that are also a priority to add options too, but in terms of central attacking midfielders, Spurs do not even have one.

Ever since the departure of Christian Eriksen, the club have been crying out for someone who can break the lines with one exquisite pass. In recent seasons, talisman Harry Kane has been dropping deep to fill that void while still scoring at least 20 goals per Premier League season.

The Foxes are in serious danger of being relegated from England's top flight as they sit in the relegation zone ahead of a monumental Monday night clash against Everton. There is no chance Maddison will be playing his football in the Championship next season, which means if Leicester are relegated, a transfer is sure to occur.

However, the Telegraph are reporting that even if interim manager Dean Smith keeps Leicester in the Premier League, Maddison will still leave in the summer. Their report adds that a fee between £45 million and £60 million, with just over a year left on his current contract, will be enough to sanction a departure

Unfortunately, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle are also on the hunt for his signature and that trio of clubs will likely hold a clear advantage in the summer. With City top, Newcastle third and United fourth, Champions League football for next season looks as though it will be secured for all three, whereas for Spurs that appears highly unlikely.

The 26-year-old has the abilities to pick up the ball in deeper positions and drive forward while also spotting gaps in opposition defences. From 25 league appearances this season, Maddison has scored nine goals along with grabbing seven assists and would therefore be an astute purchase for Tottenham that has been needed since January 2020.
