Neymar may be a ruthless competitor but he showed his softer side in Qatar by helping out a pitch invader.

One of the most recognisable footballers in the world, the Brazilian is used to be sought out on the pitch by those who feel a dash on to the turf is their one and only opportunity to meet their idol.

And so it proved the case in Doha, where thousands of fans had gathered to watch Paris Saint-Germain train.

One supporter jumped from the seats on to the pitch and made a bee-line for the Brazilian, only to be stopped by PSG staff.

Stadium security caught up shortly afterwards to frogmarch the intruder from the pitch, but when he noticed the comotion, Neymar chased after them.

Upon realising that all the man wanted was a selfie with the superstar, Neymar duly obliged, before running back to rejoin the session.

PSG are becoming increasingly popular across the world, with 12,000 supporters turning up to watch them train at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, which will be one of the venues when Qatar host the World Cup in 2022.

Stars including Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria were put through their paces as Tuchel's squad prepared for their upcoming fixtures, with fans allowed to watch free of charge.

PSG return to action on Saturday when they host Guingamp, and next month they will travel to face Manchester United in the first leg of their intriguing Champions League last-16 tie.
