Alex Iwobi, a midfielder for the Super Eagles, has accepted blame for his late dismissal in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Jordan in an international friendly on March 31.
Iwobi was sent off after reacting angrily to a foul by Jordanian player Amer Jamous during the match, which was played in Turkey.
Speaking on a podcast, the former Arsenal FC player admitted his mistake and offered an apology.
“I have to take responsibility for what I did and apologize to all my Nigerian teammates, the staff, and everyone who supports Nigeria. My actions were not up to par, and I was sent off,” he said.
“But I’m going to learn from this and move forward. We drew the match; we didn’t lose, so we’ll take the positives from it. I want to apologize for this mistake,” added the Fulham FC player.
The Super Eagles will return to action in June with two friendly matches against Poland and Portugal.
