Norwich fans will not be able to book Carrow Road Holiday Inn for Saints clash

Norwich fans hoping to watch their clash with Southampton from Carrow Road will not be able to sneak into the Holiday Inn at the ground.

Games in the Premier League for the rest of the season will take place behind closed doors – with no supporters from either side at the ground and fans asked to watch matches on television instead.

But the Holiday Inn at Carrow Road has a number of rooms that have a view of the pitch, and fans might have tried to book one ahead of the 6pm kick-off on Friday to get a closer view of the action.

That will not be possible though as Sportsmail was told by the hotel that all of the pitch-view rooms have been booked by Norwich.

Even those hoping to get a room at the Holiday Inn itself, in the hope of finding a vantage point, will face stringent regulations and are unlikely to find a way in.

The hotel is currently only letting critical workers – as defined by the government – or elite athletes, coaches and those required by law to self-isolate book rooms.

They are also asking for identification before letting people take up the space.

And rooms are also being sold on a single occupancy basis, with anyone wanting a double room having to provide evidence of the fact they share an address.

Rooms at the Holiday Inn are usually available from as little as £66, and the hotel has a mini-gym, access to a nearby leisure centre and there is also an on-site business centre.

Friday's clash is crucial to Norwich's hopes of staying up. They are currently bottom of the Premier League, six points from safety with just nine games left to play.

Southampton, meanwhile, are seven points clear of the relegation zone.
