Nottingham Forest confirm the signing of Bade with Aurier also set to join

Nottingham Forest continued their summer spending spree with the eleventh hour arrivals of Loic Bade and Serge Aurier.

Bade becomes Forests' 21st signing as the defender sealed his deadline day move from Ligue 1 team Rennes to join the newly-promoted side.

Southampton were also battling to land the 22-year-old but were brushed away by Forests' pursuit of the Frenchman who chose to make a late switch to Steve Cooper's Premier League side.

Bade suffered an awkward season at Rennes after joining for £17million last summer on a five-year contract but leaving just one year into his deal after making just 14 league appearances.

His season was cut short after suffering an adductor injury but impressed enough during his handful of appearances to secure a move to England's top-flight.

Bade's arrival is backed up by Forests' capture of free agent Serge Aurier with the right-back having agreed personal terms with the club.

The former Tottenham full-back is currently awaiting a work permit but is expected to join up with his new teammates in the coming days.

Aurier caps off a summer of tremendous spending as Forest splash the cash on a new-look squad capable of staying in the Premier League.

The Ivorian featured in the La Liga and the Champions League for Villarreal last season prior to his contract at the Spanish club expiring in June.

29-year-old Aurier is no stranger to the Premier League after making 110 appearances for Spurs during four seasons in London.

However the reckless addition is perhaps more well-known for his off-pitch troubles than his on-field success, with Aurier finding himself in hot water with authorities on numerous occasions in both England and France.

But while Bade and Aurier represent two more arrivals, one player that won't be making a move to the Premier League newboys is Michy Batshuayi.

The Chelsea outcast was set to sign a deal at the City Ground with the side hopeful of concluding the move on Thursday night after positive discussions with the Belgian's representatives.

But the 22-year-old's proposed move collapsed after the two Premier League outfits ran out of time to finalise the transfer.
