Nottingham Forest set to pip QPR to Steve Cook signing in the next two days

Nottingham Forest hope to announce Steve Cook as their second January signing in the next 48 hours.

Cook will undergo a medical with Forest on the verge of beating QPR to sign the experienced defender from Bournemouth.

QPR were first to offer terms to the 30 year-old defender and were frontrunners early last week.

Forest then made their move and are now set to pip their Championship rivals to land Cook on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Forest are six points off the play-offs with a game in hand on the current occupiers of sixth place, Huddersfield.

And centre-back Cook will add crucial promotion know-how to Steve Cooper’s squad.

Cook has been at Bournemouth for over 10 years and was a central figure in their rise from League One to the Premier League, making over 350 appearances.

Forest have already brought in striker Keinan Davis on loan from Aston Villa. They are also keen on Reading defender Tom Holmes.
