Arsenal Official Statement
We are delighted to confirm that we have activated the buy option to make Piero Hincapié a permanent Arsenal player starting July 1.
Piero joined us on loan from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen last season and was an indispensable part of our Premier League title-winning campaign.
The 24-year-old defender made 39 appearances across all competitions, emerging as a cornerstone of our defensive unit. Our backline has now conceded the fewest goals in each of the past three Premier League campaigns.
The Ecuador international began his professional career at hometown club Independiente del Valle, coming through their youth academy. He claimed his first career silverware by winning the U20 Copa Libertadores in 2020. That August, Piero made a move to Argentine club Talleres, racking up 22 appearances in his debut season there.
