Arsenal have completed a deal for teenage midfielder Salah-Eddine from Feyenoord.

The 17-year-old was a free agent after leaving the Dutch Eredevisie giants this summer and has joined the Gunners' Professional Development Phase for the coming season.

The Dutch midfielder, known as 'Salah', has already began training with the north London club's under-23 side but is aiming for a spot in first-team training led by Mikel Arteta during the 2020-21 campaign.

Speaking to the Arsenal website, Salah said: 'It feels great to join a massive club like Arsenal. It’s a good environment for me to work on my development and hopefully through the academy I can become a first-team player.

'My first impressions were that not only are my teammates really good footballers, but they’re great people as well. The whole environment is positive and it’s lovely to work with them.

'First I want to become an important player in the under-23s and then eventually get involved with the first team in some capacity. I want to see what that’s like, but above all else I want to have a really good season with the under-23s.

'Maybe if I do that then I’ll be able to join the first team here and there in training. Those are my targets.'

Salah came through the youth ranks at Feyenoord, with the Dutchman describing himself as a box-to-box central midfielder who can play with either foot and who likes to score and get assists.

The 17-year-old also believes he is adept at his defensive play whilst in transition.

Last week, the Gunners completed deals for young talents Tim Akinola and George Lewis from Huddersfield Town and Norwegian side Fram Larvik respectively.

Arteta's Arsenal have also tied up deals for first-team contenders Pablo Mari, Cedric Soares and Willian this summer.
