Atletico Madrid have announced the signed winger Gelson Martins on a six-year deal after he walked away from his contract at Sporting.

Los Rojiblancos were in discussions with Sporting CP in an attempt to reach an amicable agreement over Martins' move, despite the fact he had rescinded his contract following a training ground attack by club ultras.
And yet, on Wednesday, Atleti confirmed that they had secured the winger's servies on a free transfer.
That makes the deal somewhat comparable to Wolves' signing of Rui Patricio, who has been subject to a complaint to FIFA as Sporting seek 57 million euros following his own free transfer.
Martins, who scored 27 and assisted a further 30 goals in 140 appearances for the Lisbon side, will compete with Thomas Lemar and Vitolo for a place on Diego Simeone's flanks.
