OFFICIAL: Today's Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Saturday’s Premier League fixture between Everton and Liverpool has been called off due to safety concerns.

The decision follows mass disruption caused by Storm Darragh. An amber weather warning was issued on Merseyside on Saturday morning.

The decision to postpone the fixture, the final Premier League Merseyside derby to take place at Goodison Park, was taken by authorities and not the two clubs.

An Everton statement read: “Today’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.”

The game is the first Premier League fixture to be postponed due to Storm Darragh, with the Championship matches between Cardiff City and Watford, and Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United both called off on Friday.

Barring any meeting in the FA Cup, the postponed fixture will be the final Merseyside derby to take place at Goodison Park, as Everton prepare to move to their new Bradley-Moore Dock stadium next season.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League after winning 11 of their opening 14 top-flight matches under Arne Slot. They lead second place Chelsea and third place Arsenal by seven points, but that lead could be cut to four by the end of the weekend should Enzo Maresca’s side beat Tottenham Hotspur or Mikel Arteta’s side win at Fulham.

When is the rearranged Everton vs Liverpool game?

With the news only having just broke, details of the new date and time of this much anticipated game are yet to be released. An already jam-packed December fixture list is about to be squeezed even tighter.

As soon as the information is announced this article will be updated.
