OFFICIAL: Frenkie de Jong injured in right ankle & could be out for 7 weeks
Tests carried out on the first team player Frenkie de Jong show that he has an injury to the tibiofibular syndesmosis in his right ankle. He is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return.
According to Relevo, Frenkie de Jong could be OUT for around 7 weeks and will MISS the El Clásico.
The FC Barcelona midfielder had played every minute of the league until his first half substitution against Celta on Saturday. De Jong had played all five previous league games and 58 minutes in the Champions League, always as a starter. A key figure in coach Xavi's tactical system, De Jong has also scored one goal this season.
