The forward was substituted in the first half of Tuesday's Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield after slipping on the turf. Subsequent scans confirmed that the player had ruptured his Achilles tendon. As a result, Ekitike will miss the remainder of the club's matches this season and will not be able to represent France at this summer's World Cup.
