OFFICIAL: James Rodriguez terminates his Olympiacos contract

James Rodriguez has parted ways with Olympiacos. Contract terminated with immediate effect — as Colombian star leaves the club. James will now be available as a free agent on the market.

After forging a name for himself with Porto, Rodriguez rose to prominence throughout the 2014 World Cup campaign.

The winger scored six goals, and picked up two assists, from Colombia's five games in the tournament, as they reached the quarter-finals in Brazil.

Following his impressive performances in Rio, Rodriguez - who had just moved to Monaco - secured a £63 million move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

However, he failed to live up to expectations and was shipped to German side Bayern Munich for two years before he ended up joining Everton in 2020.

The 31-year-old moved to the Greek Super League in September last year and went on to make 23 appearances for Olympiacos in all competitions.

He managed to record five goals and six assists for the club during that time but that wasn't enough to ensure his future with the Greek side.

Rodriguez's final appearance for the 'Red and Whites' came during their recent 2-0 defeat to Panathinaikos in the Super League championship rounds.

James' statement on his Olympiacos departure:

I would like to thank everyone for all the time that we have spent together. although we are going our separate ways, I feel that I will always be a member and welcomed in the family of the great port Piraeus. I wish all the best to Olympiacos and every success in the future.
