On this day in 2012 - Aguero scored winning goal to hand Man City their first Premier League title in 44 years

Manchester City scored twice in stoppage time to be crowned champions for the first time in 44 years as they beat Queen's Park Rangers to win the Premier League on goal difference from Manchester United. City and their supporters were transported from the depths of despondency to the highest high in the space of two minutes. Dzeko rose to head the equaliser before Argentine Aguero showed great clarity of thought and composure amid the mayhem to drive into the area and beat Kenny with a powerful low finish.

The Etihad was a sky-blue explosion of joy and relief in an outpouring of 44 years of frustration as Aguero wheeled his shirt above his head in celebration and Mancini, who cut an increasingly frantic figure as time ran out, raced on to the pitch - accompanied by backroom staff including Brian Kidd and David Platt - in ecstasy.

On this day in 2012 - AC Milan begin new era as club legends Gattuso, Seedorf, Inzaghi and Nesta bow out in tears

The end of an era at AC Milan was greeted with tears from the players who will no longer wear the famous black and red shirt.

A host of established stars will move on from the club since summer after years of loyal service, with one such individual Filippo Inzaghi bowing out the match-winning goal in a 2-1 over Novara.

The 38-year-old, who has played 11 seasons at the San Siro, is yet to decide on his future and leaves with the likes of Gennaro Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf, Mark van Bommel and Gianluca Zambrotta.

Nearly of those who are waving goodbye to Milan, especially tough-tackling Gattuso who departs after 13 seasons, left the San Siro pitch in tears.

On this day in 1960 - Real Madrid won their fifth consecutive European Cup Final

The 1960 European Cup Final was the fifth final in the history of the European Cup, and was contested between Real Madrid of Spain and Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest football matches ever played. Madrid won 7–3 in front of a crowd of over 127,000 people at Glasgow's Hampden Park. Frankfurt reached the final through an impressive 12–4 aggregate victory over Scottish champions Rangers, whereas Madrid overcame their bitter rivals FC Barcelona 6–2 over two legs.

Puskás and Di Stefano are two of only three players to have scored a hat-trick in a European Cup or Champions League final (Puskas being the only one to ever score four goals), with the other being Pierino Prati for A.C. Milan in their 4–1 victory over AFC Ajax in the 1969 European Cup Final. Puskás repeated the feat in the 1962 European Cup Final.

On this day in 2018 - Arsene Wenger managed his last game in charge of Arsenal

Arsene Wenger bowed out with a victory as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's first-half goal secured a 1-0 win for Arsenal in their season finale against Huddersfield.

Wenger, who announced he would be leaving the Emirates at the end of the season just over three weeks ago, was given a fitting send-off at the John Smith's Stadium. Aubameyang struck seven minutes before the break to ensure the 68-year-old Frenchman signed off his 22-year reign with a win in his 1,235th and final game in charge.

On this day in 2012 - Juventus completed the Serie A season as undefeated champions with Del Piero's last Bianconeri goal.

They had finished the previous season in disappointing fashion, taking seventh place in the final table. That prompted the sacking of manager Luigi Delneri, who had held on to the post for a little over a year. The club replaced him with former Juventus midfielder Antonio Conte, who had played there from 1991 to 2003 and who had ended the 2010-11 season by guiding Serie B side Siena back to the top flight. Del Piero scored for Juventus for the last time. After that the legend left Juve and joined Australian side Sydney FC.

On this day in 2014 - Julian Draxler became Germany National team's youngest-ever captain

Julian Draxler captained Germany's youngest-ever international side against Poland in a friendly match. Of the starting side against Poland, only captain Julian Draxler has a realistic chance of lining up to face Portugal in Germany’s Group G opener in Salvador on June 16.

On this day in 1993 - Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku was born

Born in Antwerp, Lukaku began his professional career at Belgian Pro League club Anderlecht in 2009, where he made his senior debut, at age 16. Following similar individual success in his second season, highlighted by his win of the Belgian Ebony Shoe, Lukaku relocated to England to transfer to Premier League club Chelsea in 2011, for a fee of £10 million (€12 million).

Lukaku featured sparingly in his first campaign at Chelsea, and instead, he decided to depart on loan. In 2013, he went to Everton as a loanee. After finishing the season with 15 league goals and helping Everton reach a club-record points tally, he joined the team in a permanent deal worth a club-record fee of £28 million in 2014.

After three successful individual campaigns on Merseyside, which included an appearance in the 2016–17 PFA Team of the Year, Lukaku signed for Manchester United in 2017, for an initial fee of £75 million. This transfer made him the most expensive Belgian player of all time.

A Belgian international, Lukaku has played 79 games for his country, and registered 45 goals, making him Belgium's all-time top goalscorer. Lukaku made his senior international debut for Belgium in 2010, at age 17, and has since represented his country at three major tournaments, including two FIFA World Cups and one UEFA European Championship. At the 2018 World Cup, Lukaku led Belgium to a third place finish by finishing as the joint second-highest goalscorer, and won the Bronze Boot.

On this day in 1983- Ivorian and Man City legend Yaya Toure was born

Touré aspired to be a striker during his youth and has played centre back, including for Barcelona in the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final. However, he has spent the majority of his career as a box-to-box midfielder for club and country, where he has been regarded as one of the world's best players in his position. One of the greatest African players of all time, Touré was voted African Footballer of the Year for 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

He had stints with Beveren, Metalurh Donetsk, Olympiacos and Monaco before moving to Barcelona in 2007. He played over 70 matches for the club and was part of the historic 2009 Barcelona side that won six trophies in a calendar year. In 2010, Touré moved to Premier League club Manchester City, where he scored a number of key goals, most notably the only goals in the 2011 FA Cup semi-final and final. He also helped City earn their first league title in 44 years.
