Ebere Eze has been in fine form for Crystal Palace in recent weeks, with the 24-year-old scoring six goals in his last eight games to take his tally to ten goals this season

Odsonne Edouard has hailed his Crystal Palace teammate Ebere Eze as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League after his recent performances.

The former Queens Park Rangers star has been in superb form for the Eagles in recent weeks, scoring six goals in his last eight games, including braces in 2-0 wins against both Southampton and Bournemouth. That has taken his goal tally to double figures at Palace in a single season for the first time since his move from west London.

Eze has stepped up in the absence of Wilfried Zaha when he has been out injured, with the 24-year-old starring alongside Michael Olise since Roy Hodgson returned to the club for a second spell as manager.

And Edouard, who scored the opening goal of the game as Palace drew 2-2 with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, has added his name to the list of Eagles players heaping praise on Eze.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Edouard said : “As players, we need confidence, and when he [Eze] gets the confidence, he’s one of the best midfielders in the league, so it’s very good for Ebs and I hope he will keep playing like this – at least for the last game!

“[Personally] I feel well. I feel well on the pitch. I have more confidence like all the team. We are more free, so this is good, and I hope we can keep pushing and take the three points next week.”

Crystal Palace host Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park in their final game of the season on Sunday, with the Eagles set to finish either 11th or 12th in the Premier League.
