Opinion: Di Stefano will always be the King of Real Madrid ahead of Ronaldo

The football world learned on Sunday the two reasons that sparked Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid exit, a decision that he reached in May 2017.

A financial disagreement between the player and club arose as the Portuguese attempted to demand more money, to put him on par with Lionel Messi.

However, at Real Madrid there is a responsible president who simply said "no."

So, Cristiano and Jorge Mendes left, and set off for Turin.

The second reason is more, maybe, moral.

Ronaldo saw his morale damaged by being placed in the shadow of Alfredo Di Stefano.

"I am always behind him so I don't know what else I have to do," he'd said.

In reality, there is nothing he could have done to surpass Real Madrid's all-time greatest player.

Let me tell you a story, Cristiano.

This Thursday, 64 years have passed since the official debut of Di Stefano in the white shirt, the best of all time.

When Don Alfredo arrived in Madrid it was a football team, when he left it was the biggest sports club in history.

He arrived at a club with just two league titles in 25 years, when he left they had ten and five European Cups as well.

You are a huge player, Cristiano, but Di Stefano has been, and always will be the King.
