Ousmane Dembele transfer stance amid Man Utd interest in Barcelona star

Manchester United have endured an underwhelming transfer window so far - and they could be destined for more disappointment with Ousmane Dembele.

United have five days left to land top target Jadon Sancho before next Monday's transfer deadline - with Donny van de Beek still their only signing of the summer so far.

But Borussia Dortmund appear to be holding firm in their £108million valuation of Sancho, so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side may have to turn to alternative targets.

Reports from Spain have claimed the Premier League giants are ready to give up on signing Sancho and turn their attention to Barcelona winger Dembele instead.

The France international has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp and is not thought to be in the plans of new boss Ronald Koeman.

United are reportedly considering making an approach with a view to taking Dembele on a season-long loan.

However, the 23-year-old has previously turned down overtures from United - and is not thought to be keen this time around either.

The former Borussia Dortmund man wants to stay with the La Liga giants and fight for a place according to Sky Germany , cited by Inside Futbol.

He joined the La Liga giants back in 2017 for £135m after bursting onto the scene with Dortmund.

But things haven’t worked out in Catalonia, and he made just nine appearances in all competitions last season after suffering a serious hamstring tear which forced him to undergo surgery.

Dembele turned down all interest in him last summer, determined to remain at Barca.

And it appears he wants to do the same this season - although the competition for places at the Nou Camp has intensified.

The rise of youngster Ansu Fati has made him a regular in the first team, while new signing Francisco Trincao has also been thrown in the mix.

Philippe Coutinho is also expected to be given a second chance at Barca, having returned fresh from a Champions League triumph on loan with Bayern Munich.
