Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has taken the next step on the road to recovery after he shared a picture of himself running on an anti-gravity treadmill.

The Liverpool star used the state-of-the-art equipment on Thursday afternoon as he continues his rehabilitation from the horrific knee injury he sustained in May.

The 25-year-old will likely be out for the rest of the current campaign after he suffered the nasty injury during last season's Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma.

The anti-gravity treadmill will allow the former Arsenal midfielder to exercise for longer without him putting too much stress on his bad knee.

The treadmill can also speed up his rehabilitation, with it often  used by the world's top clubs.

Keeping supporters up to date through his social media platforms, Oxlade-Chamberlain has also incorporated bike work along with boxing drills in a bid to speed up his return to the first-team over the past couple of months.

The recovery exercises have varied from rope work while out on holiday with close friends to seeing his knee tested more than ever since his injury inside the club's Melwood training ground.

'It's going well - very boring, very slow, very long, all the good stuff!'; Oxlade-Chamberlain said last month. 'But I'm making progress, which is obviously what we need. It's just a long process and I just keep plugging away, but I'm in good spirits and I'm really positive about it,' the England international said.

'You just get into a routine (with) tunnel vision and keep going, setting yourself little goals and little things to achieve.

'I passed the ball the other day, not very well, but I started passing the ball and that was massive for me to be able to kick and know that my knee can kick a ball.

'Even though it was five yards, I've started working on stuff like that and it's little wins like that that keep you going and keep you pushing forward to the next one.'
