As part of Project Restart's plan to get the Premier League season back up and running, players will reportedly be 'encouraged to war masks or a snood' to protect themselves from the spread of coronavirus.

The COVID-19 pandemic has seen all professional football in England suspended since mid-March but with plans for increased testing and stringent health measures, masks and snoods could become a key part of players returning to training, according to ITV News.

A document of drafted proposals to safeguard players and staff members working around football, seen by ITV, has reportedly been sent round to players ahead of a meeting on a Wednesday.

Every player would have to be tested for the novel coronavirus 48 hours before they planned to train under the new guidelines.

If a player tests positive and is showing symptoms of COVID-19 then they would be made to quarantine away from the squad for seven days before then being retested upon their return.
