They say 90 minutes can be a long time in football, but what about a decade?
The 2010s have been a rollercoaster ride for fans of English football. Sir Alex Ferguson retired, Manchester City arrived and stayed at the summit of the Premier League, Chelsea and Liverpool won the Champions League while Wolves dropped down to League One before surging back up to the Premier League and into the Europa League.
But how did the 20 Premier League sides currently in the top-flight start the decade and who was playing for them at the time?
Manchester United began a topsy-turvy decade with a 1-0 defeat at home to Leeds in the FA Cup thanks to a Jermaine Beckford solo effort. Liverpool and Newcastle didn't get off to the best of starts either, being held at lower to lower league opposition in Reading and Plymouth Argyle respectively.
It could have been worse though – they could have been miles away from the Premier League. That was the case for Norwich and Bournemouth, who started the 2010s in League One and League Two respectively.
Eddie Howe's Bournemouth side lost 2-0 at home to Northampton to kick-start 2010 – could any of their fans have then predicted that they would be an established Premier League side 10 years later?
And what about the players? Current Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi started the decade as an unused substitute at Everton, while Kieran Trippier was warming the bench for Manchester City away at Middlesbrough.
Speaking of City, they did not exactly have the stellar front three then that they currently have now, as before the likes of Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Riyad Mahrez, they had Vladimir Weiss, Benjani and Martin Petrov.
Here is the full list of each club's first result and team sheet of the decade…
