PLAYER RATINGS: Rashford repays Ten Hag's faith, Luke Shaw shines on his return

  /  autty

In a game played amidst a backdrop of controversy surrounding Marcus Rashford, the England international made headlines for all the right reasons as Manchester United secured a dramatic victory at Molineux.

Just five minutes in, Rashford offered a glimpse of his devastating best in front of goal, striking home from the edge of the box to give United the lead.

Rashford found repeated success linking up with a returning Luke Shaw on the left flank, and the full-back produced an inch-perfect pass to set up Rasmus Hojlund as the visitors doubled their advantage.

Wolves pulled a goal back from the spot through Pablo Sarabia before Scott McTominay briefly restored United's two-goal lead. The hosts kept their pressure up to the last though, and again halved the deficit through Max Kilman before Pedro Neto put them back on level terms in stoppage time.

There was still another twist to come though, and Kobbie Mainoo sent the travelling support into ecstasy after his finessed strike fired United to victory.

Here, Mail Sport have rated how the Manchester United players fared...

MANCHESTER UNITED

Andre Onana - 6.5

Did what was asked of him in the first half but looked far from secure after the interval. Will be grateful to Martinez for a goal line clearance after the restart.

Luke Shaw - 7

In his first Premier League start since Christmas, the England international proved just why he is so crucial for Erik ten Hag's side. Linked up superbly with Rashford.

Lisandro Martinez - 7

Assured in defence, United are a much better team with the Argentinian. Showed expert initiative to deny Max Kilman a certain goal early in the second half.

Raphael Varane - 6.5

Came close to netting United's third in the first half and was typically solid. Should have done better with Neto's late equaliser.

Diogo Dalot - 6.5

With Shaw handling more of the offensive responsibilities, the Portugal international maintained his focus on denying the hosts repeatedly down the right-hand side.

Casemiro - 6.5

Had two solid chances to head home from set pieces go wide but was solid otherwise. Was unlucky to give away the penalty that led to Sarabia's goal.

Kobbie Mainoo - 7

A night he won't soon forget. Just days after netting his first senior goal for the club Mainoo repeated the feat in the league, beating multiple players before firing home to secure three points at the death.

Marcus Rashford - 7

Needed a big performance this evening with the controversy surrounding his weekend and wasted no time showing what he is capable of with the early goal.

Bruno Fernandes - 8

A true captain's performance, Fernandes pulled the strings as United eventually managed to get the job done. Assisted Scott McTominay for the third goal.

Alejandro Garnacho - 7

A tireless performance from the 19-year-old that saw him involved in much of United's offensive work. Did lack quality in certain moments.

Rasmus Hojlund - 7

After waiting what must have felt like an eternity for his first Premier League goal the Dane is well and truly off to the races. Clearly benefited from Shaw's attacking excursions.
