Arsenal recorded a resounding 6-0 win over Sheffield United to keep up the pressure on fellow title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Gunners were 5-0 up by half-time, with goals from Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice, as well as an own goal from Jayden Bogle.
The hosts were not quite as incisive after the break but continued the onslaught, Ben White getting in on the action as well to make it six as Arsenal came away from Bramall Lane with a third successive away win with five or more goals scored.
For the hosts it was yet another bruising defeat, and one that leaves them with a goal difference of -50 after only 27 games this season.
Here, Mail Sport's DOMINIC KING runs you through who impressed and who struggled to perform on Monday night at Bramall Lane.
ARSENAL (4-3-3)
David Raya – Could have gone to the nearby shopping mall, had a coffee, bought some clothes and come back and would still have kept a clean sheet. Scores highly for staying awake – 7
Ben White – Whatever happens from here, nobody will take away the statistic that he scored Arsenal’s 10,000th goal – a fine finish it was, too – 8
William Saliba – Strolled through the game, in total control. One lovely moment in the first half when he stepped into win a header, like a senior school pupil playing against infants – 8
Gabriel – Like his partner-in-crime, probably gets asked more questions on a day-to-day basis in training than he did here – 7
Jakub Kiwior – One scruffy ball in the second half can be excused, others neat and tidy from start to finish and willing outlet – 7
Martin Odegaard – You would happily pay money every week to watch this man play football.
When he has these conditions, he can pass and move and score at his own will – 8.5
Jorginho – An incident in the first half showed how little pressure he was under – knocked it a couple of yards to his right, then to his left and nobody closed him down – 7
Declan Rice – He’s purring right now, didn’t have to think about defensive duties and will probably be disappointed he only scored once – 8
Bukayo Saka – Magic. Just magic. Close control, speed, cutting edge, menace and all delivered with a grin. Precious cargo, this lad. A pleasure to see him in full flight – 9
Kai Havertz – Really finding his stride now, took his goal with confidence and you knew he was going to score when surging clear. A big asset – 8.5
Gabriel Martinelli – Fast feet, rapier surges and bursting with desire to make every second count. Ran Sheffield’s defenders ragged – 8
MANAGER
MIKEL ARTETA – No need for big celebrations during the game, as the contest was over after five minutes. Has his team function fluently – 8
SHEFFIELD UNITED (4-5-1)
Ivo Grbic – Terrific save from Gabriel Jesus late on but no chance with anything else that came his way – 5
Auston Trusty - Turned inside out and back again by Saka and the fact a reshuffle was needed after 16 minutes told you how he was playing – 3
Gustavo Hamer – Aren’t midfielders supposed to run and tackle and try to contribute? Well, he did none of that. He wasn’t alone – 3
Oli McBurnie – Totally anonymous. No press, no service, no intensity – just jogged about watching Arsenal have 81 per cent possession – 3
Anel Ahmedhodzic – Home fans had nothing to cheer about but they did raise themselves when he was taken off in the second half – 3
Oliver Norwood – The sacrificial lamb for his manager picking the wrong team. Taken off after 16 minutes so United could play five at the back. A nonsense – 5
Jack Robinson – First minute clearance off the line from Martinelli, looked totally dejected as those around him wilted – 5
Jayden Bogle – Got his feet in a tangle when Saka scurried down the right to tee up Arsenal’s second. He was not to blame for the game ending up as it did – 4
Vini Souza – A great difficulty trying to find the words to describe a performance from someone who was invisible for much of the night – 3
Tom Davies – Dragged off at half-time, another scapegoat for what had happened. He did, at least, try to challenge, which is more than can be said of others – 5
James McAtee – Another who got no further than the first 45 minutes. What a chastening experience this was – 4
Subs:
MANAGER
CHRIS WILDER – His second stint here is going from bad to worse. Nothing he did influenced the game, no lessons seem to have been learned from recent wallopings – 3
