Despite PSG’s victory over Lille, they suffered some setbacks as both Neymar and Nuno Mendes had to leave the game due to injuries. On Tuesday, the club issued medical updates on their injured players.
“New examinations taken today confirm a sprained ankle for Neymar Jr, with ligament damage. A new point will be made at the beginning of next week.”
While this injury may not necessarily rule Neymar out of the upcoming Champions League match, he is unlikely to participate in Le Classique. PSG has not provided a timeline for his return but they are expected to release more information next week. Given the current timeline, The Brazilian’s chance of playing in the second leg of the UCL may also be doubtful.
However, the Parisian-based club may be in luck for their Portuguese fullback who sustained less serious injuries. The club stated, “Hit in the knee during the last game, Nuno Mendes will resume training this week.”
On Sunday, PSG is set to face off against their arch-rivals Marseille in what promises to be an exciting Le Classique matchup. Marseille is currently in good form and has already defeated PSG in the Coupe de France, making this a highly anticipated clash. The result of this game will be crucial in the Ligue 1 title race, as a win for Marseille could give them a real chance to challenge for the championship.
