Reigning Champions League winners PSG will lock horns with Chelsea in the Club World Cup final on Sunday and Luis Enrique has warned the Blues his side are chasing "history" at the MetLife Stadium

Paris Saint Germain boss Luis Enrique has told his players to round off an "unforgettable season" by writing their name into the history books.

But even after winning the Champions League for the first time and being red-hot favourites, Enrique has warned they must not take Chelsea and Enzo Maresca lightly.

The PSG boss said: "The Champions League was our first and it was very important: that was our main objective when we came to Paris last year.

"And on Sunday we have the chance, with the last game of the season, to win another one, with the Club World Cup. But it is important that we are conscious of the difficulty of the game.

"Enzo Maresca is a coach I love. I love the way he has of playing with the ball. They have a lot of good individual platers but they also have a real sense of duty. They are a bit like our team. They are physically strong too. It will be a very even game and a very difficult one.

"Chelsea won the Conference League, they finished fourth in the league, they are growing a lot. They have great players, technical players, and a great coach who I like a lot because of how they try to play from deep, always press, always want to attack.

"They are a very complete team that has produced a sensational season. This is no easy team and it is not a formality or anything like it. We will approach it 100% focused to try to round off a historic season.”

PSG’s Brazil defender Marquinhos added: "We are very much aware of the importance of this match. It is a golden opportunity for us.

"This is a tournament that will be held every four years and we don’t know if we will have another chance. We don’t know what things will look like in four years.

"We want to grab this title to make it a perfect season which would be hard to replicate. We really want this title. We want to make history and are really hungry for a win."

Meanwhile, Maresca was complimentary towards opposite number Enrique ahead of the huge game, saying he used him as a "reference" in his career.

"Luis Enrique is a reference not only for me but for all of the people who love football," he said at his press conference. "At the same time, [for our style], I think we have shown this season how we want to do things on and off the ball.

"I agree with most people who say [PSG] are the best team in Europe and the world. The reason why is they are showing this. We have maximum respect for them. I really enjoy watching them but we are here to do our best and win the final."
