PSG open to loaning Hugo Ekitike in January

Following their firm position of not allowing Hugo Ekitike to leave on loan in the summer, PSG have softened their stance and are now willing to entertain loan offers in the January transfer window, according to L’Équipe. Les Parisiens received a loan offer from Crystal Palace on deadline day but refused to let the former Reims forward leave, with the club wanting to sell him permanently.

PSG were keen to sell Ekitiké for Financial Fair Play reasons. The Premier League club offered a paying loan of €3m including an option to buy worth €35m which could be activated if he played 20 times for Roy Hodgson’s men. However, no move for the French U21 materialised. He also received 3 contract offers from Eintracht Frankfurt but didn’t want to reduce his salary by 40%.

Relations between PSG and Ekitiké reportedly soured following the club’s failure to secure a sale for the 21-year-old. However, with PSG now willing to entertain a loan move, the Frenchman could yet get his wish and secure a move to the Premier League in January. West Ham and Newcastle have also shown interest in Ekitiké in the past.
