Served for the first time at Paris Saint-Germain’s home game against FC Nantes at the Parc des Princes on 4 December, Made in PSG Training Center pear juice will be available to spectators at the stadium’s hospitality areas for the rest of the season.
A total of 1,000 bottles will served in the coming months at L’Avenue du Parc, Le Club Étoile, Le Cercle, La Galerie, the QSI Lounge, the QSI Box and Le Carré.
In keeping with its ambition to be a club that promotes environmental excellence, not least in supporting organic, green agriculture, Paris Saint-Germain has created two orchards covering an area of 2.5 hectares at its future training centre.
The source of the juice served at the Parc des Princes, the orchards are home to more than 2,800 trees of seven different varieties of pear. Aged between 30 and 50-years-old, they are the club’s contribution to 100%-organic agriculture.
Paris Saint-Germain has put the task of maintaining and harvesting the pear trees in the hands of local schools and businesses.
Apprentices from the Yvelines Centre of Horticultural Education and Promotion are responsible for pruning them, under the watchful eye of the arborist Bertand Puel, while the pears were juiced by the company SERENEST at the Conserverie Artisanale Charles Derungs in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône.
And when the schools went back at the end of this summer, Puel invited 60 children from the villages of Poissy and Aigremont to take part in two harvesting operations.
Paris Saint-Germain intends to continue producing Made in PSG Training Center craft juice in the years to come. In 2019, nearly 18 tonnes of five different pear varieties were harvested, and the prospects for an excellent flowering season next year are good, with the trees in perfect condition right now.
With this innovative launch, Paris Saint-Germain is looking to bring an even more unique slant to the spectator experience at the Parc des Princes.
The first 100%-Paris Saint-Germain infrastructure, the new PSG Training Center will also be arriving soon. Work is expected to begin in spring 2020, with the centre due to open in summer 2022.
