Paul Merson agrees with fellow pundits on Man City vs Fulham

Manchester City have just two Premier League games before the season pauses for the winter World Cup.

Pep Guardiola's side welcome Fulham on Saturday before Brentford come to town next weekend. Sandwiched inbetween is a Carabao Cup clash at home to Chelsea.

Full attention will be paid to the Cottagers first however, and rightly so given the impressive start to the season made by Marco Silva's side. After yo-yoing between the top two tiers in recent years the West Londoners have made a hugely encouraging start this time around and sit seventh after roughly a third of the campaign.

Here is a look at how prominent pundits are predicting the game will unfold at the Etihad.

Writing on his BBC predictions page, the former Celtic striker said: "Fantasy Football has gone into meltdown since Erling Haaland got injured last week - he sat out last weekend's win over Leicester and the midweek victory over Sevilla, but will he or won't he be back here?

"Either way, I think City will win this one pretty comfortably. The only thing I wasn't sure about was whether Fulham would manage a consolation goal - I have got Ederson in goal in my Fantasy team so I am going to say no, they won't."

Ex-Arsenal winger Merson wrote on his Sportskeeda column: "This is a game where Fulham can have a swing. They're flying in the Premier League, and they don't have to worry about the league table. They're already halfway to safety, and they can have a go this weekend.

"The advantage Manchester City have is their squad depth. They don't have to play in top gear to win this match. Their players might hold themselves back ahead of the World Cup, but City should be all right. I think this is a nice game for City because Fulham will open the game up. I don't think they'll sit back and defend, and Pep Guardiola will love that.

"Fulham will score if they have a go, but City should be able to win this game."

Writing for Paddy Power, the former Liverpool defender said: "Good luck, Fulham! This will be another big Manchester City win.

"I know City only won 1-0 at Leicester but you know what they’re like at home. They’re through in the Champions League and it looks like they’re on one of those unstoppable rolls.
