Paulo Dybala responds to Thiago Silva's claim as Chelsea defender admits 'he'd be a massive signing'

Paulo Dybala has spoken out about rumours of a transfer to Chelsea, after the Roma forward was spotted in England.

New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has been a long-time admirer of Dybala, and was thought to be keen on bringing the 29-year-old Argentine to London.

Dybala and his partner were in attendance at Wimbledon on Friday, watching Carlos Alcaraz win on Centre Court, and it was not the only sporting event that the Argentine enjoyed during his time in England.

Blues defender Thiago Silva even spoke to Dybala about the matter directly when they crossed paths at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday.

But speaking to LAROMA24, as reported by the Mirror, Dybala denied his visit to London was for business as well as pleasure.

The striker said: ‘I’m motivated for pre-season, which we’re starting tomorrow [Monday]. My future? I’m happy at Roma. I’m staying here.'

After seven years at Juventus, winning five Serie A titles, Dybala joined Roma on a free transfer last summer, and has two years left on his new contract.

Silva had revealed his chat with Dybala about a possible move to Chelsea while talking to Sky Sports.

Silva said: 'I saw Paulo Dybala here, they talk about him at Chelsea. I hope he arrives.

'I've talked with him and asked him if he is coming, he answered me, but I can't say what he told me.

'I would really like him to become a Chelsea player, he is a top player. It would help the team a lot.'

However, it looks like Chelsea will have to fend for the Premier League title without Dybala's help, after his pledge to remain with Jose Mourinho's Roma.

Dybala was part of the Argentina side that secured the 2022 World Cup trophy in Qatar last December, and came off the bench to score a crucial penalty in the final shootout.
