Eagled-eyed supporters were quick to praise Pep Guardiola for his continued affection towards Gabriel Jesus after Manchester City defeated Arsenal to go top of the Premier League table.
Despite gifting the Gunners the majority of possession, Man City recorded just 36% of the ball - the lowest total for a league match in Guardiola's entire managerial career, a Kevin De Bruyne masterclass ensured it was the champions who claimed all three points in north London.
But while the Belgian ran the show, scoring one and teeing up another, former team-mate Gabriel Jesus was forced to watch proceedings from the sidelines. The Brazilian is suffering from a medial collateral ligament injury which required surgery after the World Cup.
Jesus, 25, enjoyed a glittering five-and-a-half-year stint in Manchester, picking up four Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups and also rounding off the Cityzens' centurions campaign by netting a 94th-minute winner at Southampton.
Although Jesus left for title rivals Arsenal at the beginning of the season, there's still clearly a high level of admiration for him from Guardiola, who planted a kiss on the forward's face at the end of a long embrace. And the warm encounter was quickly picked up by supporters on social media.
"Gabby ! Amazing player ! Special human being !! Always will support him," posted an adoring City fan. "That's what football is all about," harked a second.
"I was so surprised no one made a big deal out of this exchange. Sweet," commented a third. While a fourth quipped: "He's probably thanking him for not sharing any secrets of the shenanigans of Man City and their financial cheating."
The ex-Manchester City forward made the move to north London at the start of the campaign after lashing in 95 goals in 236 appearances for the champions. The switch came in the immediate aftermath of Erling Haaland's high-profile transfer to the Etihad and City also bolstered their ranks with the signing of Julian Alvarez.
With Guardiola unable to guarantee a starting berth each week, Jesus opted to head south and re-join Mikel Arteta, having worked under the Spaniard whilst he was assistant manager at Man City. The Brazilian's goals have propelled the Gunners into title contention as they vie for a first league crown since the Invincibles campaign of 2003/04.
Arsenal are second in the Premier League table, level on points with City. Though the Gunners do possess a game in hand.
