Manchester United defender Phil Jones suffered a nasty injury when he collided with Declan Rice on Saturday.
Blood was pouring from the Red Devils centre back's head during United's victory over the Hammers.
Initially, referee Graham Scott did not stop the game as Jones sat on the pitch.
The ball was put out for a throw-in and, by that point, his gruesome injury was clear to see.
United physios rushed onto the pitch to give the England international some treatment.
The stoppage in play allowed medical staff to clean up the defender and strapped him up with a head bandage, to let him complete the 2-1 win.
West Ham thought they had taken the lead through Felipe Anderson but it was incorrectly ruled offside.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were then awarded a penalty in both halves either side of Anderson's equaliser which Paul Pogba converted.
