Piatek, Witsel & Sessegnon lead MARCA's best debutants' team of 2018

The year is over, 2018 has come and gone and 2019 is on its way, and what better way to celebrate it than by looking at the best debutants in Europe's other major leagues this year.

Serie A, Ligue 1, the Bundesliga and the Premier League have all seen many new faces arrive since January and some of them are young, while others are older.

We have put together an XI of the best rookies to feature in Europe this calendar year.

Rui Patricio (Wolves)

It took him a long time to leave Sporting Clube de Portugal but now, at 30, he has taken the plunge and left for English shores to join a newly promoted side - and has kept five clean sheets so far this season.

Wan-Bissaka (C. Palace)

Injuries opened the door and allowed him to break into the Palace team in February and since then he has been named the club's player of the month on four occasions.

Todibo (Toulouse)

Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all interested in the central defender who, after starting 10 of the first 12 Ligue 1 games, even scoring, disappeared for refusing to sign a renewal.

Akanji (B. Dortmund)

He arrived from Basel in January and didn't take long to justify the 21.5 million euros the Germans spent, already establishing himself as a leader at the club.

Sessegnon (Fulham)

After shining in the Championship he expected to play more in the Premier League but, even still, his number are impressive and he has two goals and four assists so far this term.

Witsel (B. Dortmund)

At 29, having passed through the Chinese Super League, Witsel has finally been granted an opportunity in one of the world's top leagues and he has become a core player at Dortmund.

Neuhaus (Gladbach)

An Under-21 international with Germany, he has shone since debuting in the Bundesliga in August.

Ruben Neves (Wolves)

The youngest captain in Porto's history, he has shown at Wolves that he is experienced beyond his years.

Nelson (Hoffenheim)

He is the Jadon Sancho of his team and has already racked up seven goals and one assist in the Bundesliga and Champions League despite usually appearing as a substitute.

Piatek (Genoa)

The Pole is enjoying the best start of any player in Serie A since 1949/50 and only Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more goals that Piatek this season in Serie A, though he is the leading goalscorer in the Coppa Italia.

Maddison (Leicester)

He made the leap from Championship side Norwich City for 25 million and the responsibility of succeeding Riyad Mahrez isn't weighing him down, bagging five goals and three assists.
