Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants to join Chelsea if he leaves Barcelona despite Man United talks

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would snub Manchester United in favour of a move to Chelsea if he were to leave Barcelona this summer.

Erik ten Hag is desperate for new signings after United's disastrous start to the season and has identified Aubameyang as a target in attack.

Old Trafford chiefs have held talks with Barcelona and the 33-year-old, who only moved to the Nou Camp on a free transfer in February.

However, if Barca were to sanction a sale then Aubameyang wants to move to Chelsea instead of United.

The Blues' shock interest in the ex-Arsenal striker emerged earlier this month as they search for a new number nine.

Thomas Tuchel knows Aubameyang from their time together at Borussia Dortmund, but Barcelona have told Chelsea that they must pay £21million for him.

On the player's part, it is believed that Aubameyang is not actively pursuing a Nou Camp exit, having rediscovered his goal-scoring touch since moving to LaLiga.

His Arsenal contract was terminated by mutual consent in February after he had been stripped of the captaincy at the Emirates Stadium, but he went on to score 13 goals in the second half of the season for Barcelona.

Nonetheless, the Catalan side may try to sell him as they seek to recoup funds following their summer spending spree.

Despite going through a torrid financial crisis which has left them with over £1billion of debt, Barca have splashed out on players such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde.

There have been no significant departures yet, but Aubameyang is one of the favourites along with Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay to leave the club.
