Chelsea news: Mauricio Pochettino has other duties to prepare for before taking over officially at Stamford Bridge.
Mauricio Pochettino has taken to social media for the first time in weeks to give an announcement on plans for the coming weeks. He was confirmed as the new Chelsea boss at the end of May with an official statement made just one day after the final Premier League games of the season.
Before even that, though, the Argentine will be taking to the sidelines once more as Soccer Aid comes back next week. In an almost comedic turn of event, Pochettino will be managing the World XI for the match at Old Trafford just two weeks before his contract at SW6 gets underway.
Chelsea fans will have the first chance to look at their new boss as he manages a star-studded side alongside Robbie Keane, actor Martin Compston, musician Mel C and career long assistant Jesus Perez. It is Perez who will join the former Tottenham boss at Stamford Bridge alongside Pochettino's son, Sebastiano and Miguel 'Miki' D'Agostino in the coaching staff.
He took to social media to repost the Soccer Aid video of Pochettino and his squad to his story. Pochettino, who hasn't posted online since he took his dog for a walk in Barcelona in early May, also shared the post.
He is yet to change the biography on his account to include Chelsea or put out any hints as to work he is doing behind-the-scenes at the club, but that could be just around the corner after his latest action.
The video confirms Pochettino's first squad of 20 players. In full, it includes: Usain Bolt, Leon Edwards, Mo Gilligan, Ben Foster, Patrice Evra, Steven Barlett, Nani, Roberto Carlos, Francesco Totti, Kem Cetinay, Tommy Fury, Gabriel Batistuta, Lee Mack, Heather O'Reilly, Niko Omilana, Sam Claflin, Noah Beck, Maisie Adam, Kaylyn Kyle and Hernan Crespo.
Soccer Aid will be played on June 11 at Old Trafford with Pochettino going against an England XI including Jermain Defoe, being managed by Chelsea women's head coach Emma Hayes, Stormzy, Harry Redknapp, Zavon Hines and Vicky McClure.
Arsenal academy coach Jack Wilshere will be in action alongside former England players Gary Neville and David James. Ex-Blues centre-back Gary Cahill has also been selected.
